EMAT (Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer) Solutions
Volta
VOLTA is a high power 2-channel portable ultrasonic instrument designed for Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) applications. VOLTA features a patented pulser technology to satisfy the most demanding EMAT applications in a compact and rugged package. Standard software built on Innerspec Technologies operating platform includes an intuitive menu to set up any EMAT application using Innerspec standard sensors.
Advanced application software is available with easy-to-use wizards to facilitate setup and analysis for MRUT (Medium-Range UT/ 0-3 m), LRUT (Long-Range UT/1-100 m), Rail Heads, Thin Welds, and other solutions.
- 2 Ultrasonic Channels for EMAT applications ranging from 20 kHz to 8 MHz
- 1,100 Vpp and 6 kW of peak power per channel, 1 to 10 cycles.
- Standard software permits running any EMAT application including normal beam, angled beam, and guided waves.
- Custom software for MRUT (Medium Range UT), LRUT (Long-Range UT), Rail Heads, Thin Welds, and other unique applications.
- NDT-Web user interface and seamless integration with NDT-Link portal. Complete suite of productivity tools for Asset Management, Remote Support, Data Sharing, and Reporting.
PRIMO SC
PRIMO SC is a compact high-power UT instrument capable of generating very high voltages and long bursts of energy using a patent pending ultrasonic pulser-receiver. PRIMO SC is used mainly for normal beam applications using both Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) and Dry-Coupled Ultrasound (DCUT) transducers. PRIMO SC runs on Innerspec Technologies Operating Platform (ITOP) using our NDT-Web User Interface.
- 1 to 8 channels for normal beam EMAT applications
- Applicable for thickness measurement, 0° flaw detection, bolt-load measurement, measurement of stress, and material property measurements such as nodularity and anisotropy.
- Up to 1000Vpp per channel, 1 to 3 cycles and up to 3000 PRF for scanning speeds greater than 1 m/s with 1mm resolution
- Self-contained IP54 industrial enclosure that can be located anywhere near the point of inspection. NDT-Web user-interface broadcast via wireless and/or Ethernet connection to any external device -PC, Tablet- running any operating system (Windows, MAC, Linux, Android)
Sensors
Innerspec offers a great variety of standard and custom EMAT & DCUT (Dry – Coupled UT) sensors & accessories.
Boiler Inspection System
The temate TG-IS(B) is designed for detecting and measuring wall loss, Hydrogen Corrosion Cracking (HCC), and caustic gauging in boiler tubes.
- Non-contact EMAT technique.
- Permits 100% inspection of boilers instead of spot checking at up to 15cm/s of scanning speed.
- Ultrasonic EMAT technique provides accurate thickness readings with minimum surface preparation.
- Only system capable of measuring remaining wall thickness on heavily corroded tubes.
- Capable of detecting Hydrogen Corrosion Cracking (HCC), pitting, and caustic gouging.
- Works on carbon steel and clad materials.
- Sensor with integrated encoder and light indicators for fast visual alert to the operator.
- Exclusive boiler mapping software application permits easy visualization of boiler walls with results of inspection for fast analysis and interpretation.
- Proven technology with hundreds of boilers and thousands of kilometres of inspected tube worldwide.
Instrumentation for High-Power Ultrasonic Applications
PowerBox 1&2 are portable instruments designed for the most energy demanding & high speed applications. PowerBox 1&2 incorporates intelligent processors with integrated digitizers and broadband pulsers/receivers to perform a variety of flaw inspection, thickness,
and material property measurements. Spike and tone-burst pulses at frequencies from 50 kHz to 6MHz can be generated to excite a full range of ultrasonic wave modes, including guided waves, in pulse-echo and pitch-catch arrangements. ITOP software with phased array capabilities is supplied for PC data logging, imaging and analysis. The PowerBox 8 can be used with phased array EMAT sensors from Innerspec Technologies.
