which is subject to corrosion, abrasion, and fatigue, will fail one day if it is not discarded in time. Steel wire rope flaw detector INTROS enables simultaneously accurate measurement of loss of metallic area (LMA) and detection of outer and inner localized flaws (LF), such as broken wires, strands, pitting corrosion. INTROS inspects the rope at speed up to 4 m\/s and can be used during rope production or operation.<\/p><p>INTROS is widely used to inspect ropes at underground and surface mining, cranes and heavy lifting onshore and offshore, cable ways, cable bridges, elevators, guy ropes of flare stacks and masts, overhead transmission lines, etc.<\/p><p>Operation of the instrument is based on magnetic flux leakage (MFL) principle, so the instrument uses strong permanent magnets to magnetically saturate the rope under inspection. Only in case of magnetic saturation, it is possible to obtain high accuracy and sensitivity of the instrument.<\/p><p>The INTROS kit comprises magnetic head, basic unit and software Wintros. Results of automatic data interpretation display in \u201ctraffic light\u201d mode. Green light informs the operator the opportunity to continue rope operation; yellow light warns against certain level of rope deterioration \u2013 both LMA and LF, and is adjustable; red light alerts that rope may no longer be used. Following criteria used to analyse actual condition of rope \u2013 number of broken wires within certain rope length, loss of metallic cross section area in percentage, and speed of rope degradation.<\/p><p>All inspection data are available at any time for manual interpretation by inspector. INTROS-AUTO can be connected to external computer for continuous wire rope monitoring. such as ore, coal, rocks for a long distance in mining and power industry, steel mills, sea ports, etc. Integrity of steel-cord conveyor belts considerably depends on condition of steel cords inside the belt. Broken cords, corrosion, poor splicing of the belt may cause accident. Steel-cord conveyor belt flaw detector INTROCON is designed for non-destructive inspection of steel cords during operation of the conveyor belt. The instrument can be also used for inspection of steel-cord conveyor belt during production run. INTROCON detects broken cords and optionally assesses general corrosion of cords. These features enable INTROCON to check and monitor the condition of splicing areas by measuring the distance between ends of cords within splice and thus makes it possible to timely suspend the conveyor for the repair of the belt when necessary.<\/p><p>INTROCON operation is based on eddy current principle of non-destructive testing, and can inspect conveyor belts from 600 mm to 3000 mm width and thickness from 10 to 50 mm at speed up to 7 m\/s.<\/p><p>INTROCON comprises basic unit, scanner and Wintrocon software. The INTROCON basic unit is designed to collect and store inspection data from the scanner. The scanner comprises 2 or 3 modules assembled together, are equipped with sensors, located crosswise the belt, so steel cords are scanned by individual sensor during inspection.
