The simulation software CIVA is an expertise platform dedicated to non-destructive testing. It is composed of simulation, imaging & analysis modules, which allow conceiving or optimizing inspection techniques & predicting their performances in realistic NDT configurations.
The current commercial version is CIVA 2020
CIVA is a multi-technique (UT-Ultrasound, ET-Eddy Current, RT-Radiography…) modules package that can be bought or rented, independently or combined, for a single computer or on a network. Additional modules such as Guided Wave, Computed Tomography, ATHENA2D The Finite Element Ultrasound module or FIDEL2D The Finite Difference Ultrasound module are also available.
The CIVA platform not only provides simulation tools, but it is now also powerful software for the analysis of your UT acquisition data. As multiple acquisition systems are now compatible with CIVA UT (M2M Systems, GEKKO, Omniscan etc.), many CIVA users want to use CIVA to perform the analysis of their acquisition files (selection and analysis of indications, examination report, reconstruction, signal processing, etc.). Plug-In solution for other systems are available on request.
The simulations accessible through CIVA software allow for an optimized choice of an inspection procedure. The software lets you take into account most influential parameters involved during an inspection, regarding the transducer, the geometry or the material of the inspected specimen, but also the sought after flaws. Through tweaking all these parameters, it is then possible to determine the most appropriate method for the inspection, or to evaluate the performance and relevance of an existing procedure.
The latest version CIVA 2020 includes significant enhancements both in terms of functionalities and performances, among which: an integrated tool for DAC curves and TCG computation, especially for Phased-Array sensors, a further integration of FEM tools within CIVA UT, a dedicated environment for nozzle UT inspection, a linear scan module in RT and CT, new defect profiles in ET, some mode analysis tools in the GWT module, and an enhancement of the metamodels capabilities and its extension to the RT and GWT modules.
CIVA Education
A simplified version of CIVA is also available, called CIVA Education. This version, very easy to use, has been adapted for universities and training centres to help teaching and understanding the physical phenomena involved in Non-Destructive Testing.
TraiNDE – Innovative Tool for the Training of NDT Inspectors
TraiNDE UT is a manual ultrasonic testing simulator that helps trainers teach operators on ultrasonic testing. It reproduces real inspection conditions for a number of applications. Trainers will be able to deliver clearer information using its educational functionalities with real examples. The dynamic displays and probe handling mimic real inspection behaviours. The operator handles a dummy probe on the digital mock-up. Its position and skew are located on the block, and the related signal is displayed on the digital UT device in real time.
TraiNDE UT is designed for training centers, companies with internal training/qualification needs and universities. The multiple exercises cover the UT operator’s skills: detection, sizing & characterization. The exercises are customizable in order to enable/disable educational tools depending on the trainees’ progress.
TraiNDE UT is delivered with a set of exercises. Each exercise is packaged to include calibration, sensitivity and test blocks with the relevant probes. 15 virtual components are available:
- Calibration: V1 and V2 blocks (LW0°, SW45°, SW60° and SW70° probes)
- Sensitivity: DAC IS-US 50 (SW45°, SW60° and SW70° probes) and step block (LW0° probe)
- 6 plates with deferent thickness and flaws (L0° probe)
- 3 welds blocks
The current commercial version is CIVA 2020
TraiNDE RT is a virtual reality software associated with a database of film results, which reproduces the inspection conditions for numerous applications (welded tubes and plates, cast specimens, X-ray and Gamma tubes, several films…) taking into account the IQI, lead letters, and X-ray flexible rulers
